4000 reasons...

Getting out for my run yesterday was a challenge.  I was scheduled to do 18 miles according to my "smart coach" online program.  I cringed and wanted to curl up in bed instead!  I got dressed with the intention of finding everything else to do besides my scheduled run.  I checked my emails, then Facebook.  I eventually landed on the ChildCry website and I was reminded why I need to lace up and get running.  ChildCry feeds 4000 + children everyday around the world.  That was what I needed!  Each mile I log now prepares me for the marathon and the reason I'm running three to four hours on the weekends ;)

It's definitely something that spurs me on towards the finish line on Nov 6th...  The same with my walk with God.  In times of difficulty when I don't feel like going on, I look toward the goal. When I run and face an obstacle, I ask God for strength to push through.  He provides the strength to push through in life as well.

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.  Phil 3:14

Team ChildCry

Under perfectly blue skies yesterday, six of us initiated Team ChildCry for Times Square Church.  We formed 2 relay triathlon teams and pushed ourselves beyond our limits and through the process God spoke to each of us  in ways we never expected.  Throughout the challenges, we took home first and second place... should I mention we were the only relay teams in the field ;)

Overall learning through our physical and emotional limits we took home the fact that Jesus is all we need!

And now we start fund raising for ChildCry.  This was something place on our hearts last year as we prepared to enter this years' NYC Marathon.  Our hearts' desire was to make our miles count for the glory of Christ.  Last year we started the team Running with Christ under the New York Road Runners.  Seeing people react to our signs posted on our tees and having ever so brief but meaningful conversations with strangers was good.  Now we are taking it to another level!

Franca and I will be running the marathon out of our group.  But any marathoner knows that we don't get through this process alone.  We have our Lord Who gives us strength... we have our husbands who make the sacrifices for the 'team'... and Franca's girls as well who cheer us on... our friends and family who run some races with us.

And now the countdown to Nov 6th begins...
